Student Council

Mission Statement: As members of St. Martin’s in the Field’s Student Council, we will be responsible, open-minded, and respectful. We will work to make sure student voices are heard, to build an inclusive and kind community, and to make our world a better place.

Our student council is made up of three to four middle school class representatives from each grade who support and work on three different committees: Student Life, Events, and Service. Student Council members are leaders both in and out of the classroom. It is an opportunity for students to take on leadership roles while helping to make St. Martin’s in the Field the best school and environment it can be for each and every member of our community.

Vestry

Middle School students in 5th through 8th grade have the opportunity to serve on the St. Martin’s Student Vestry.  As a part of the vestry, members meet weekly at lunch to assist the Chaplain in planning worship and running the weekly Chapel services for all students.  During services, they participate in Chapel functions such as carrying the torch and cross and lighting candles. They also read to the congregation so that they can articulate their faith, develop public speaking skills and demonstrate leadership in a unique forum.
